ABOUT PEGATHERM SA

Pegatherm SA - Equine Thermal Imaging Service was established in 2022 by founder and thermographer Tayla Vorster. Fascinated by the effects of inflammation on the equine body, as well as understanding the importance of early detection from her personal journey with a kissing spine diagnosis in her mare, she committed herself to the innovative realm of thermal imaging and its possibilities in equestrian sport. Equipped with a state-of-the-art FLIR T530 thermal camera and extensive UK-based training, she now offers her services throughout the garden route.

Thermal imaging is a non-invasive method of measuring surface temperature. Thermography allows us to analyse thermal patterns in anatomical structures and identify symmetries or variations. A healthy horse will have symmetrical patterns while irregular patterns may indicate possible injury sites or disease, as increased temperatures within anatomical structures results from inflammation. These areas of elevated heat can be detected through thermal images, meaning that areas of concern can be identified, localised & monitored.
